A Lecture on Play, Elsewhere (Greensboro, NC), 2012
A Lecture on Play: Hans-George Gadamer’s Ontology of the Work of Art and It’s Hermeneutic Significance is the performative enactment of two lectures on Gadamer’s Truth & Method – The Ontology of the Work of Art and It’s Hermeneutic Significance. The lecture involved playfully dressing up as Gadamer himself and guiding the audience through a detailed and rigorous explanation of one subsection of the text - the section on Play. The "lecture" attempted to instantiate the material through games, demonstrations, and songs to convey the arguments of the essay, and involved the audience in a practice of collaborative dialetics.
